Dance Performance Stage 2023

Our first host for the afternoon the fabulous Mariana Trench has been performing since 2018, when they took off like a rocket!

This stunning queen who has musical theatre running through her veins, is a regular of the Bristol scene and is a talented singer, comedian, and seamstress.

Back hosting this stage for a second year, Mariana will then head over to host for the Punka crew.

Oka is an indigenous, UK champion hoop dancer and dancer with a crew of about 500 circus and dance performers. They love what they do and performing for Pride.

Luak Fire Tribe work together to create traditional native stories using imaginative visual displays across an entire range of circus skills including UV, hoops, fire, poi and more.

AE Dance + Fitness and Iris Hernandez are joining forces for Pride 2023! And they have one goal – to make good people feel great so they can do AMAZING things! On stage AND in the studio!

They run uplifting and inclusive dance classes across for Bristol for adults. With AE Dance you can find a range of classes from Musical Theatre to Burlesque and from Ballet to Tap. While Iris Hernandez specialises in Commercial Latin – blending a range of Latin and Carnival styles with her iconic Commercial energy.

If it’s Ballet Barre Fit or Commercial Latin, they want all dancers to leave every class with a spring in their step and a smile on their face!

Bringing Contemporary, Ballet, Tap and Character as a competition team, they have multiple group dances, trios and solos of different styles.

All of the performers are very professional and compete and perform regularly.

A fun, friendly community dance group that are based at the gatehouse centre in Withywood. They run classes for all ages & abilities and everyone is welcome. Everyone is encouraged to be who they want to be building confidence & sass! 

Their fitness classes are about everyday people, no matter shape, size, age, ability. If you enjoy it do it. They pride ourselves in being happy and confident in the body your in.

While ballet is at the core of their technique they take from all dance disciplines to make fresh exciting dance theatre.

As well as a performance they’ll also give a taster workshop to get you on your feet!

A new class with a diverse range of ages, genders and backgrounds who love dancing together.

From Carnival Beats, to Burna Boy, to Brazillian styles this group specialise in breaking down cultural barriers to produce a community who stay in contact long after the class is over.

Performing a brand new routine created just for Bristol Pride 2023, Streetenvy welcome on stage some of our talented young people.

The team ensure a safe, creative and fun space to learn how to dance and socialise too and many of the dancers on stage on Pride Day have come from having no dance training at all, to feeling confident and excited at each and every performance opportunity.

Frampton Cotterell and Winterbourne based dance school Valarie’s Dance Studio aim to provide children and adults with access to as many styles of dance as possible. They train contemporary, commercial, lyrical and street dance.

Knowledge and creativity should not be limited and there you can try a range of different subjects in a fun and supportive environment. They also offer classes for exam and performance groups too.

L.A Dance is an introduction to street dance giving children of a variety of ages an enjoyable fun foundation in this dance style, incorporating wacking, house, hip hop, litefeet, urban, popping, locking and commercial.

Women aged from 19 – 80 showcasing all different styles, talents and bodies as part of this fun, friendly and inclusive Zumba class that offers 9 Classes per week including Zumba GOLD and a class for adults with learning difficulties and wheelchair users.

The main Zumba group love a Flashmob and have performed in a variety of settings including opening the Christmas Lights in Brislington and performing with one of our local Drag Queens.

They bring the party!

Streetenvy provide classes, workshops, socials, performance and more, for adults, teens and children from all levels of dance experience (including none), from all backgrounds.

They are proud to have an excellent reputation across Bristol and the South West for dancers to feel supported and to be free to be themselves.

Their motive is to remove the stress from life and to bring people together without judgement. Join them and party!

Racing over from their Cabaret Stage slot she performs alll over the UK and in 2022 got into the Drag Idol UK Final for the Cardiff heats

A group of Chinese ladies living in South Gloucestershire. They enjoy dancing to keep fit and happy. Bristol Pride is an important culture festival and they are very pleased to be able to perform for us. They will be sharing thier new dances on the stage.

Born in Douala, Cameroon, West Africa, Louis-Roger is an African contemporary dancer, performer and teacher. He now ranks among the leading African dancers in the South-west of England. Louis is well know in the dance scene in Bristol and runs regular classes on Thursday’s at Southbank Centre (with live drums).

Anyone coming to Pride and watching Mundi Dance will enjoy a high energy performance with live drums and also encourage participants to join

Fun, inclusive, high intensity dance fitness class, with a focus on Latin and Caribbean rhythms.

Tribu13’s 13 RITMOS is just something in between. A fun, sassy, high intensity dance-fitness class which brings you tracks from all over the world. They are all about inclusivity, body positivity, and a whole lot of sass, encouraging freestyle and free expression.

This performance is specifically designed for Bristol Pride 2023 and they will also be performed on the main stage at the official afterparty at the O2 academy!

On the stage at Pride they represent many of the letters in LGBT+ family and they love to bring their hard work to such an important festival every year.

A group of women from all different backgrounds that have come together through Burlesque classes in Bristol.

They love performing their style of Burlesque and empowering the world around them to be proud of who they are. An LGBT+ friendly group they welcome everyone from beginners to more advanced dancers.

Multicultural group, based in Bristol, who love Latin dances, especially Salsa.

They’ll be bringing a choreography of the international artist Bersy Cortez and have been working on all the afrocuban moves and musicality of this choreo, adding our own flavour to it and learning from each other in the process.

They’ll also be teaching basic moves from the choreo, together with some group entertainment for everybody to enjoy Salsa music.

Carnival Fitness is a dance fitness class incorporating basic dance steps and inspired by the magic and energy of a Caribbean Carnival. Their class is just like playing mas (masquerade), waving your colourful rags and flags, jumping and whining (rhythmic moving of the waistline) to the best Caribbean music!

They create a safe and inclusive environment promoting fitness, health and wellbeing, cultural awareness and community cohesion. Their performance is interactive, suitable for all ages and lots of fun!

A group of adults who love to explore the social elements of street dance styles such as Hip Hop, Funk and Locking, House and Dancehall.

Their main focus is to bring connection and interactive elements to performances, giving the crowd the opportunity to dance along and follow their dancing destiny. They want to show that everyone and anyone can dance, feel free and share the love of these amazing street dance styles.

Xtro Illusions provides dance classes for all ages and abilities from introductory baby ballet, contemporary and  street dance classes.

They provide performance and competition opportunities to all of our groups and work closely with parents and dancers to build on each dancers confidence and self esteem.

A social dancing group for LGBT+ people and their friends.

Queer social dancing is well established in cities such as London and Berlin but in Bristol dancers face a mixed response from mainstream classes and clubs, with barriers ranging from heteronormative language and assumptions to homophobia. Enter Bristol Equality Dance who run a dynamic interactive workshop on Pride Day to get you dancing, mixing, laughing and meeting new people.
