A desert holiday in the city centre – hip hip hip hip hooray!

You know what they say, thirty is the new twenty, and with The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert that’s a tremendous cause for celebration. Unlike most comedies born of the ‘90s, Priscilla wears its age well, and is remarkably sensitive in its portrayal of queer identities at a time when queer identities were still largely shunned in the mainstream. Fan Support in the LGBT+ community has never wavered, and the initial success of the film led to writer-director Stephan Elliot adapting the film as a stage musical in 2006, cementing its now undeniably iconic status.

So, in deservedly larger than life fashion, Queer Vision Film Festival is delighted to present Priscilla on the biggest screen Bristol has to offer this July – the Former Bristol IMAX located at the Bristol Aquarium. We only hope it can contain the immense personalities of drag queens Mitzi (Hugo Weaving), Bernadette (Terence Stamp), and Felicia (Guy Pierce) as they connect and clash on an unforgettable road journey across the Australian Outback.

The icing on the cake of this 30th birthday bonanza – arrive early to mingle and catch performances from the Bristol Show Choir and Bristol’s very own drag icon, Tess Drive, who will also be hosting a special trip on our very own Priscilla: the First Bus Pride Bus with a limited number of tickets  so you can be picked up and arrive at the IMAX in true camp style.
