Capturing Movement: Truth, Voice and Visibility.
How do we remember protest, activism and the movements they become part of?
As rights, representation and public trust come under pressure, this Bristol Pride programme event brings together visual media, journalism, archive and conversation to explore how stories of resistance, identity and social change are documented, shared and remembered.
With contributions from Bristol-based social documentary photographer Mark Simmons, filmmaker Ollie Ley, The Bristol Cable and Nepal Point Collective, the evening will take place within Nepal Point Collective’s exhibition, a social archive of the September 2025 youth-led protest movement in Nepal, created through photographs submitted by people who witnessed the events first-hand.
Through images, film, discussion and reflection, we’ll move between past and present struggles, asking how truth, voice and visibility are shaped within the current media landscape.
Facilitated by Laura Barber, the evening will consider what can be learnt, what can be carried forward, and how media, memory and collective action might help us respond with greater care, agency and purpose.
