A kaleidoscopic circus & drag music video
Last year we teamed up with Bassline Circus to bring you an incredible Circus Tent on Pride Day. Now artists who performed there collaborate to create a special tongue in cheek music video celebrating queer fantasy.
Big Poppa is the latest single from Bristol genderqueer producer & vocalist Grove. Taking influence from 90’s & 00’s hip-hop and re contextualising it through a queer lens.
“Think if a Biggie tune & Missy Elliot tune had a lil’ gay baby… that energy” – Grove
A reaction to the government’s sex ban with strangers, the video journey’s from the mundanity of lockdown to a dreamy hyper-reality, focusing on sensual performance, body architecture, and the anticipation of touch as lockdown eases.
Features the world-class talent of circus & drag artists LJ Marles (Deja Da Bomb), Zaki Musa (pole dance & chair) and Symoné (drag king, hooping & roller skates).
It’s steamy, it’s campy, but most of all it’s a showcase of queer, black talent.
Commissioned by Bassline Circus in collaboration with Saffron Record and Bristol Pride. Supported by Arts Council England
