Katrina Leskanich is the lead singer from the grammy nominated band Katrina and The Waves who first caught people’s attention in 1984 when the Bangles covered their song ‘Going Down to Liverpool’. Their 1985 with the smash hit ‘Walking on Sunshine’ was a worldwide success earning top ten spots around the globe. Follow up singles include ‘Sun Street’ and ‘That’s The Way’ and Katrina also sang on Natalie Imruglia’s hit Torn and on the Holly Valance album Footprints.
In 1997 the band represented the UK and won the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Love Shine A Light’, it won with largest ever margin and the following unprecedented four consecutive appearances on BBC TV’s Top Of The Pops and chart success earned it a place in the Guinness Book of Records. It’s also the last time the UK won Eurovision to date (we write this with some optimism!)
In 2001, Katrina began a solo career, performing live in the UK and in Europe and resumed writing and recording her first solo album and has gone on to continue to write, perform and release new music.
With two albums set for release this year Katrina is also embarking on a Retro Futura tour across America but not before she performs at this year’s Bristol Pride festival.
