Social Media & Marketing Manager Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Social Media & Marketing Manager to join our team. This is a strategic leadership role for a confident marketer with proven festival, event, or cultural experience. You’ll take ownership of our marketing and comms, developing a clear, effective plan to increase Pride’s visibility and sustainability by growing income from wristbands and donations. As well as sharing content and information to connect communities and further equality you’ll also engage our diverse audience with bold, joyful and inclusive content.

You’ll be as comfortable making creative exciting assets as you are briefing designer, analysing social media stats or writing snappy copy. You’ll be balancing creativity with commercial thinking, building excitement, increasing fundraising and event engagement while growing our visibility and audience with care.

We are a small but mighty team, delivering a high-impact programme with national profile and local love and you’ll be working collaboratively with the directors or Bristol Pride, leading marketing for one of Bristol’s biggest cultural moments and help ensure Pride is sustainable, visible and valued all year round – not just during the festival period.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Income Generation 

  • Support Directors to develop and deliver a strategic marketing plan to grow brand reach, drive ticket and wristband sales, as well as increasing festival donations.
  • Own and report on key marketing milestones and trends, we’re not KPI driven but an awareness of impact and ROI is important. 
  • Collaborate with the Programming & Partnerships Director on audience segmentation and campaign planning.
  • Lead on the development of income-driving email, social and content campaigns, nurturing customer journeys from awareness to conversion.

 

Digital & Social Media Management

  • Manage and grow all Bristol Pride digital channels including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook & Newsletters. 
  • Lead on content planning, creation and scheduling across platforms.  
  • Building on audience development and engagement across channels responding to comments and messages across all platforms to answer queries, boost engagement and engage with followers to build an online community. Ensuring hateful comments/bots/trolls etc are hidden, blocked and swiftly removed.
  • Run and optimise paid social campaigns, managing budgets and reporting on performance. 

 

Creative Direction & Content Creation 

  • Designing and making creative exciting assets, copy and call-to-actions that resonate using Adobe Creative Suite or Canva. 
  • When working with external creatives, you will brief and manage designers, photographers and videographers to deliver eye-catching assets that feel bold, inclusive and unmistakably Bristol Pride. 
  • Commission and curate photography and video before, during and after the festival for use across marketing, media and fundraising campaigns.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all outputs, ensuring a strong and representative tone of voice and visual style.

 

Press, Media & Print

  • Coordinate marketing and PR activity with our Directors and partner agency. 
  • Manage print and outdoor campaigns including festival guides, posters and billboards briefing designers, writing copy and coordinating production and distribution.
  • Supporting the design, copywriting and proof reading of the festival guide and coordinating its distribution across venues across the city. 

 

Website Management 

  • Maintain and update the Bristol Pride WordPress website with engaging, accurate and up-to-date content.
  • Lead on SEO, accessibility and performance improvements, using analytics to inform decision-making.

 

Campaign Delivery & Reporting 

  • Manage marketing timelines and budgets, keeping campaign activity on track and within budget.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, debriefs and reports including photography, stats and impact data.
  • Lead on creation of post-event transparency campaigns and stakeholder-facing reports.

 

Event Period Responsibilities (June – July 2026)

  • Work full-time during the festival period (27th  June – 12th July), including evenings and weekends. It’s important you’re across as many events as possible. 
  • Work with our agency, photographers and videographers to create and post live content across channels during Pride Day and festival events, supporting all the objectives of Pride and our supporters. 
  • Manage social media volunteers. 

 

What we look for in you

  • Have 3+ years experience in a senior marketing position for a festival, cultural event, or complex public-facing campaign.
  • Passionate about the LGBTQ+ community and want to make a difference and impact positive change. 
  • Have a love of social media, keeping on top of emerging trends and dynamic engagement opportunities.
  • Are a confident strategist, campaign planner and storyteller, able to turn creative ideas into real-world results.
  • Understand the power and nuance of inclusive, community-driven communications, especially within LGBTQ+ contexts.
  • Have excellent copywriting and design briefing skills.
  • Are hands-on with platforms like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and Meta Ads Manager.
  • Know your way around data using it to make decisions, improve performance and tell a compelling story of impact.
  • Stay calm under pressure and bring a solutions-focused mindset to fast-moving environments with tight deadlines.

The Practical Bits

  • This is a Permanent PAYE contract starting January 2026 at 3 days per week (flexible working supported) 
  • £27,000 – £32,000 Pro Rata (DOI) 
  • You’ll need to be available full time during Bristol Pride festival (27th June – 12th July) including evenings and weekends. 
  • Hybrid working is offered, but we ask for at least one day per week in our Bristol Office (Portland Square, St Pauls). 
  • TOIL is offered for additional hours worked.
