Frisky new psychosexual thriller from the directorial team behind Hard Paint
Queer Vision Film Festival 2025 begins with an absolute banger. The first in a strand exploring LGBTQ+ cinema from Brazil, Filipe Matzembacher and Marcio Reolon’s new erotic thriller is a bold provocation. Bathed in sultry neons, Night Stage evokes an atmosphere akin to the world’s pleasure district, which both hide and illuminate the deepest desires of its after-hours clientele.
Matias (Gabriel Faryas) is a young theatre actor looking for his big break. When his flatmate and fellow actor Fabio (Henrique Barreira) alone is called in for a major audition, Matias vents his frustration through hook-up apps. He encounters Rafael (Cirillo Luna), a mysterious and debonair 35-year-old, eventually revealed to Matias as a closeted politician. The two agree to continue seeing each other secretly, under increasingly precarious circumstances, which could ultimately jeopardise both of their careers in the process.
Electrifying, suspenseful, and by turns, unforgettable.
