Kings Cross (Remix) | Wed 5 July | 8pm
We are very excited to be able to have Kings Cross (Remix) during Pride Week. It uncovers the hidden histories of LGBT+ communities in London during the 1980s through memories of the Kings Cross area; an area that has undergone radical change since its day as a hub of LGBT communities, bars and culture.
Performance artist Tom Marshman transforms everyday accounts into theatre by weaving together stories of people who experienced it first hand, this show celebrates a raucous, riotous time in the life of central London where sexuality was for exploring, HIV was causing tragedy, and rights were to be fought for.
Zion Community Space is in Bedminster Down, BS13 7JW and works hard to showcase diversity in this area of Bristol which we are keen to support.
Plus Fun Fabrications at Zion Community Space a writing workshop with Karen McLeod, supported by Tom Marshman. 11.30- 2.30 [£8/7 includes a light lunch]
Tom has invited his favourite artist to deliver and fun and egging writing workshop. In 2016 Karen toured nationwide with Polari, London’s biggest LGBT Literary Salon and is a regular at London’s Southbank Centre and national theatres, but can also be found on stage in seedy gay pubs as her comedy/poetry alter ego, Barbara Brownskirt.
